I'm still alive, kicking, and drinking coffee!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Baby Pillow Script by SfinxMagnum; custom gradient (an early one from a random photo of mine!); density 10000, filter radius 0.2, oversample 2; took two and a half hours to render. I added the background and layered the fractal in Photoshop Elements 2.

A second version of this fractal: Cream and Sugar.

Because of recent clashes between McAfee and Apophysis (and other, minor glitches -- clashes with Vista) I have been some months without Apophysis. I decided yesterday to try the new one, Apophysis 7X, and this is my first non-test render.

I didn't spend a lot of time on it as I had been testing to see if Vista was going to let me save things (!) and the first thing I tried was to save the full batch of random flames using 'save all parameters'...

And it didn't work. I turned off UAC and moved the Apophysis folder out of Program Files into Documents, and changed the shortcuts and paths... and it still wouldn't work. I tried saving to different folders, including the Public folder. I checked in the Virtual Store. I looked in the trash and on the desktop. Nope. Finally I saved just one flame on its own, and that worked! I can save the entire batch by saving them one by one to the same file. I'm not sure if the 'batch save' glitch is an Apophysis bug or Vista doing things behind the scenes.

In a 'Recent' folder I'm shown shortcuts with the names of these unsaved batches, but when I click on them, it says 'Missing Shortcut' and that it can't find the files.

(Shrug). Well, at least I can save flames, renders and custom gradients...

I didn't have much time after that to actually try out Apo 7X, but it looks good. I like the flame thumbnails, and it seems a lot faster rendering the previews.

PS: I have just run the script 'Save Batch' (the basic script, not the 'save all parameters' function) and it worked. Hooray! :w00t:
