Vector art is a technique, not a style.

That's the only thing I'm clear about - the rest of my investigations are mired in confusion. 'This is true vector art, that isn't' - there is much discussion of which applications count and which do not. I suspect the further things progress in the world of applications and techniques, the less it will seem relevant.

Meanwhile I'm uncertain which categories to put my various wallpapers in. The Prowling Spring wallpaper, for instance, uses brushes based on vector art created by another Deviant Artist in Illustrator... which is one of the approved applications for vector art.

But when something is turned into a Photoshop brush, does it stop being vector art? When you employ layer styles and put the shapes on separate layers, does it stop being vector art?

It strikes me that people need a good understanding of the various techniques, styles, applications etc before they can correctly define which of these categories is right. Because I don't have that understanding yet, I'm thinking of putting all similar pieces in Wallpaper>Abstract. Any thoughts?

I'm still learning... many decades to go.
