I love Apophysis, but seem doomed to problems with it.

My old PC was very old and wouldn't render above an Oversample of 1 (and sometimes I had to tease it into rendering that). Then it would take hours!

I got a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium installed, and that rendered so much faster, at an Oversample of 2. All my problems were over, I thought!

Then I found that I couldn't rename my gradients. I can rename my flames, but if I right click on a gradient and select 'rename', nothing happens. There was a workaround, though... I could save the gradient as a new one with my choice of name, and delete the old one with the bad name.

After a while, though, that method breaks down -- it forces me to give the gradient the same name as the flame the gradient is currently on. It's greyed out in the 'title' field and won't let me click in it.

I reinstalled, and was able to make my own gradients with my own names again... and then a few days later it blocked me again.

I thought it might have something to do with McAfee, and I uninstalled Apo altogether, just because it was all getting to me! I also uninstalled McAfee, which I didn't gel with, and switched to PC Tools.

Just now I looked in my 'roblems and Solutions' log and it has Apo right at the top of the list. It says 'compatibility problem'. Reports don't come back with any solutions, though I tried just now.

Apophysis is incompatible with what? Vista?
